The Annual Bergen Educational Conversation (ABEC) was founded by Herner Saeverot in 2009 and celebrates its 10th anniversary. ABEC, which is hosted by the research group PedLab at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, emphasises conversations, in which openness, kindness and curiosity are manifested. The conversations are generally concerned with problems related to education, and this year we will look into educational perspectives and research in teacher education.

This year’s ABEC consists of an introduction and four invited contributions from the following:

  • Prof Johannes Bellmann (University of Münster, Germany)
  • Prof Em Silwa Claesson (University of Gothenburg, Sweden)
  • Prof Richard Smith (Durham University, UK)
  • Prof Carl Anders Säfström (Maynooth University, Ireland)
  • Prof Auli Toom (University of Helsinki, Finland)

There will be time for invited responses and conversations both during and after the contributions.
