Academic writing for researchers
What are the ethical issues involved in academic writing? And how can I benefit from the enormous amount of research out there when articulating my own questions, approaches, procedures and insights?
Academic writing is conversation with other researchers. However, finding your own voice and perspective can often be challenging. The first part of this talk will discuss strategies of how you may develop your own argument and position yourself precisely through the dialogue with others.
The second part addresses ethical issues: what are ethically acceptable and less acceptable ways of referencing research? How do I render ideas of others? And how can I develop my own research without falling into the trap of (unacceptable) text recycling, commonly known as “self-plagiarism”?
