Silje Valde Onsrud

Field of work

Silje Valde Onsrud is professor in music education (Ph.D.) at Department of Arts Education. Her research involves music education practices and musical material in/for elementary school and teacher education. She is teaching and supervising on Master and Ph.D. level, besides managing the courses in science theory, research methods/ethics and master thesis writing for music students in the generalist teacher education. She is also managing a Ph.D.-course in arts education and practice-oriented research. 

Research projects:

"The future music teachers: A longitudinell study of novice music teachers' professional development during their first five years of teacher practice" (2023-2029)

"Music Teacher Education for the Future" (FUTURED 2019-2022) is a research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council, which maps the music subject in the new 5-years general teacher education in Norway, and examens teaching practices for the future through participatory action research together with preservice teachers.  Webpage FUTURED
