Community work
Community work builds on the belief that together people can create and change social structures and contribute in creating better living conditions through social participation and collective action.
Community work comprises different approaches relating to the analysis of challenges and barriers for participation, at a local or structural level.
The research builds on fields of knowledge connected to social change and sustainability, social work, collective mobilization, active citizenship, public health and social entrepreneurship, in and outside the context of the welfare state.
The interplay between understanding and action is central in the research group, for instance through a focus on action research and asset-based approaches. The primary theme within the research group is to understand and describe social processes which can inhibit and/or allow for social participation.
