Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

As a PhD candidate at HVL, you are encompassed by the regulations concerning intellectual property rights (IPR) that are currently in force. According to the regulations, you are obliged to inform HVL if you make a discovery carrying a potential for commercial exploitation and that has emerged through your own work at the institution. Depending on the type of result in question, HVL can require transfer to HVL of the right to commercial exploitation of employee inventions in whole or in part, if this follows from the IPR regulations and applicable legislation. Any transfer of rights as well as income distribution between the college, the employee and the relevant academic environment shall be regulated through a separate agreement between the college and the employee.

All HVL employees and PhD candidates are advised to contact the Division of Research, Internationalisation and Innovation if they wish to discuss the commercialisation potential of ideas and results that have emerged through their own work efforts.
