Teppo Kalevi Kröger

Field of work

Teppo Kröger is Professor II at the Centre for Care Research. He holds a primary appointment in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.


Having a background in social policy and social work research, he is a care policy researcher with expertise especially in long-term care for older people, unmet needs/care poverty, integration of formal and informal care, work-care reconciliation and working conditions of care workers.


He is also leading the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare), which is the first-ever CoE focusing on research on older people, funded by the Academy of Finland. Recently Teppo participated in the Scientific Panel on Population Policy, appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office (of Finland), and that experience led him to write this blog post.
