Artificial Intelligence in the Kindergarten field
KINDknow Research Center has, in recent years, intensified its efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the early childhood education and care sector(ECEC) . Through interdisciplinary research, competence development, and close collaboration with the field of practice, the center is building AI competence among staff, children, and parents, and is developing groundbreaking knowledge about the role of AI in ECEC.urrently being built.
The initiative includes
-
Development of research-based guidelines for ethical and pedagogical use of AI in kindergartens
-
Competence programs for kindergarten teachers that combine prompt design, critical AI understanding, and creative use of generative models
-
Pilot projects exploring AI literacy and the necessary competencies in kindergartens.
-
Collaboration with international partners to ensure that Norwegian kindergartens stay at the forefront of AI development
Ongoing and upcoming initiatives
AI Agents for ECEC – research on dialogue-based assistants that support play, learning, and care.
AI and Creativity for ECEC – exploring how generative tools can foster children's joy of creation and co-creation.
The center congratulates all researchers and partners on the latest series of publications and looks forward to further contributions that strengthen the field.
