Circular Days

The Circular Days focus on how we manage our resources. The goal of these days is to raise awareness among students and staff and to highlight solutions that we can apply both in our private lives and in our work and education.

HVL takes sustainability seriously

The world needs to move faster from a linear to a circular economy. Circular economy, also known as closed-loop economy, is a principle of economic activity that aims to keep resources in the economy for as long as possible. This will be achieved by minimizing the use of raw materials, waste, emissions, and energy consumption.

It is crucial for sustainable development that we shift to a more circular mindset regarding resource use. We must simply put an end to the throwaway culture.

An important part of the Circular Days is to showcase what circular business models exist in the businesses and organizations around us by inviting them to campus to present this to us through stands, activities, and/or lectures.

The main focus has mostly been on food, clothing, plastic, and waste, and we want to highlight good examples of collaboration and facilitate students working on their own ideas. HVL Skape is, among other things, involved in the Circular Days, as we need good ideas for future solutions: How can your neighbor's waste become your resource?

What opportunities do we have for reuse, redesign, recycling, and repairs? Can we achieve more sustainable consumption with simple measures?

We also focus on other sustainability projects during the Circular Days, as we recognize that everything is interconnected.

Where and when does this happen?

The Circular Days take place in the spring semester each year, and a committee made up of employees from all campuses, along with a student representative from the Student Parliament, is responsible for organizing the events at various campuses. If you would like to contribute, please don't hesitate to contact siri.smith@hvl.no.

We hope you will take part in the Circular Days at HVL to help build a circular culture for our students, staff, and in collaboration with our partners.
