Norwegian – South African partnership for sustainable entrepreneurial internships (SUSTENSHIP)

The SUSTENSHIP-project aims at strengthening relations between universities and entrepreneurial ecosystem actors in Norway and South Africa to improve quality and relevance in education. The project concentrates on building internship programs around 4 partner Universities, enhanced with comparative research.

Norwegian partners: Nord Universitet (Bodø), Norwegian University of Life Sciences, NMBU (Ås)

South African partners: Stellenbosch University (SU) and University of Pretoria (UP). + Incubators, Tech Transfer offices, (LaunchLab, Innovus) business angel organzations are partners.

Main activities:

  • Develop high-quality sustainable international internship programs, systems, content, network, at HVL, SU, UP and Nord
  • Develop new innovative pedagogy, including mentoring, reflective writing and assessments for the internship programs
  • Comparative research (master, PhDs), establish structures for research collaboration and joint supervision across partners, Entrepreneurial ecosystem actors’ capabilities and systems.
  • Facilitate mutual learning among EE actors and startups
  • Disseminate joint project results: conferences, special issue, meeting with policy makers and industry, student alumni sharing experiences

Project News: 

The aim of this project is to strengthen the partnership between the university and other actors who work with entrepreneurship in Norway and South Africa. "This funding means that we, three Norwegian and two South African universities, can continue the good cooperation with incubators, technology transfer offices, and industrial clusters that works with entrepreneurship", says professor at the Mohnsenteret and project manager, Inger Beate Pettersen.
