Mahdi Ghane

Dr. Mahdi Ghane is an Associate Professor in Engineering Cybernetics at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Norway. He is the founder and leader of the DYNAMO Research Group (Data-Driven Dynamics, Modeling and Control), which focuses on intelligent technologies for offshore energy and maritime systems. His research focuses on intelligent monitoring, control, and optimization of complex engineering systems, with particular emphasis on offshore wind energy, autonomous maritime systems, digital twins, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and robotics. His work combines physics-based modelling, data-driven methods, and artificial intelligence to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of offshore operations.
Prior to joining HVL, he worked as a researcher at NTNU and as a Senior Safety Engineer at Safetec, collaborating with industrial partners including Equinor, Yinson, Bane NOR, Aker Solutions, Kværner, and ABS. His research has resulted in several national and international collaborations in offshore energy, autonomous systems, and engineering digitalization.
