Field of work
Filmmaker, cinematographer, and video editor, he holds a permanent position as a consultant at Medielab, the Division of Academic Development at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL). Graduating in Film Studies from the University of Udine (Italy, 2007), he specializes in social and ethnographic documentaries focused on migration.
Ferruccio has produced films in Romania ("Holidays of Flowers and Trees," 2008), South African townships ("My Private Zoo," 2012), and Sardinia ("Enjoy the Ride," 2017; "Su Donu," 2022), showcasing his work at international film festivals.
From 2013 to 2015, he collaborated with teams at the United Nations (UNHCR) to create short documentaries about refugees in the Mediterranean and IDPs in Ukraine.
At HVL in 2023, Ferruccio directed the documentary "Ocean Portrait," produced by both Medielab and KINDknow - Centre for Systemic Research on Diversity and Sustainable Futures. In 2024, "Ocean Portrait" was awarded as Best Educational Concept Where Film Is Used at the Tromsø Educational Film Festival.
His latest feature, "In the Penal Colony," co-directed with Gaetano Crivaro, Silvia Perra, and Alberto Diana, received recognition for its innovative cinematographic language at La Semaine de la Critique at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival.
