Martin Fodstad Stølen
Field of work
I am an Associate Professor at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and part of the HVL Robotics research group. My work spans robotics, machine learning and human factors. I have previously worked as a Lecturer in Robotics at the University of Plymouth, where I led the Soft and Adaptive Robotics (SAR) group, and I have recieved Fulbright Stipend and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship for work in the US and UK. I obtained my PhD in 2014 from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain. I am also the Founder and CSO for Fieldwork Robotics Ltd.
Courses taught
- ELE306 Robotics
- DAT160 Intelligent robots
- ADA526 Applied robot prototyping
Research areas
I am interested in a range of topics across soft (variable-stiffness) robot technology, robot learning, and human factors. I work to apply these concepts to real-world problems, such as agriculture, healthcare, transport, space, and in industry.
