Visit to Slovak University of Agriculture

From November 6. -10. four employees from Faculty of engineer- and science at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences visited the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovakia.

This was a revisit in a project working on student exchange and research cooperation between our institutions. The project is called SPU Slovak – Norway Environmental Partnership and is funded by Eea grants, Norway grants.

We visited the University and their new research center, and had meetings with staff at the Horticulture and Landscape engineering Faculty. We discussed and planned  student exchange between our institutions and other possible collaborations.

We also participated in the international conference “Plants in Urban areas and Landscape” in Hokovce, where we presented a poster about the use of wild plants in private gardens and public parks. There was also time for a day visit to the Unesco World Heritage Site Banska Stiavnica and the restored dams connected to historical mining.

The first bachelorstudents from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences will go to Nitra the coming spring semester, and we feel convinced they will be well received, get relevant courses and have a nice experience.
