Competencies for the librarian in the future

Project summary

The aim of the project is to investigate librarians' competence needs in subject and research libraries.​ Good professional skills are essential to support users of professional and research libraries in their research and education. The project’s problem statement is “What are the competence needs among employees in professional and research libraries within medicine and health sciences? ”​

Activities in the project:

Analysis of competence as presented by international library organizations​.

Analysis of job advertisements in subject and research libraries in Norway​.

Based on these analyses, develop a survey among librarians ​within medicine and health libraries to identify current needs for competence. 

Furthermore, efforts will be made to disseminate information from the project through publications and presentations, as well as provide targeted information to relevant actors who develop further education offers for librarians
