Project summary

An encounter across cultural boundaries demands from each performer to be on the edge, listening, not through cultural prejudice but as resonant bodies, seeking the unexpected in the sonic event. In this free improv set we find the Vietnamese đàn tranh player Nguyễn Thanh Thủy and the Norwegian composer and accordion player Jostein Stalheim in interaction with the guitarist Stefan Östersjö, professor of music performance at Piteå School of Music. The three performers seek to weave elements of traditional music together in a sonic landscape of a fragile and splintered nature.
