Project summary

With this project, we seek to direct focus to the structural conditions for groups of elderly in different social positions, thus bringing potential resources and/or barriers within these groups into debates of how to secure welfare state sustainability in the future. We propose to focus on behavioral changes (short and long term) that arise after central life disruptions that many experience in old age (e.g., spousal death, partner moves to nursery home, retirement, a chronic lifestyle related and/or severe diagnosis) all of which are known to, on average, matter for health behavior.
