Project summary
The project "Using AI in Mathematics Education" aims to explore how artificial intelligence can support more personalized, effective, and inclusive learning in mathematics courses. Mathematics often requires individual guidance, and AI can assist by providing tailored exercises, explanations, and feedback. At the same time, the project will investigate how AI can function as a learning partner or tutor, rather than just a solution provider. To achieve this, students must be trained to use AI critically and consciously, so that they develop both their own and the AI agent’s problem-solving skills. The project will examine how AI impacts practice sessions and how teachers can free up time for more focused guidance and support. It will also explore how AI can innovate teaching approaches, mandatory assignments, and assessment methods. An important goal is to ensure that ethical considerations and legal boundaries for AI use are respected. Transparency will be emphasized – students should describe how they have used AI in their work. Finally, the project aims to provide general reflections on innovation in higher education using AI as a pedagogical tool. The ultimate goal is to develop knowledge, practices, and guidelines that enhance both learning outcomes and academic integrity.
