Project summary

Mathematics teacher educators’ Rationale for Mathematical Modelling in Teacher education (RMMT) The purpose of the research project RMMT is to gain deeper insight into mathematics teacher educators’ rationale for mathematical modelling in teacher education (RMMT). The first stage of the project is to develop, validate, and ensure high reliability of a survey comprising statements related to teacher educators’ rationale for mathematical modelling in teacher education. The second stage will involve administering the survey on a larger scale in Norway. Specifically, the project investigates: a) How mathematical modelling in teacher education is understood by teacher educators. b) Which professional role teacher educators identify with most strongly: teacher, researcher, or teacher educator. c) Teacher educators’ rationale for how mathematical modelling is taught within teacher education; including preferred priorities for content and activities, as well as the conditions perceived as necessary for implementing these priorities. d) In addition, the project examines what practices teacher educators perceive as actually being enacted. Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) is responsible for the research project and acts as the data controller for the personal data processed. The processing of personal data in this project has been assessed as compliant with current data protection legislation. The assessment is carried out by Privacy Services at Sikt – the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research – on the basis of Agreement Ref. 218710 with the Department of Language, Literature, Mathematics and Interpreting (ISLMT) at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL). The planned end date of the project is 2029. All personal data will be deleted upon the project’s completion (December 2029). Where can I obtain more information?
