Project summary
Tourism management educational programs have been reduced all over Europe due to a gradually lower number of students. In Norway, the number of students has been halved since 2015. This is a growing concern in the travel and tourism industry, as the number of skilled workers available for the industry is declining, and the industry is growing. The project will contribute to this by developing more flexible education targeting youths and adults already working. The project consists of five work packages (wp’s). In WP2, we will map the skills needed in the tourism and hospitality industry. WP3 aims to develop alternative educational approaches for tourism studies. The objective is to create and assess flexible, inclusive, learner-centric educational pathways. Based on the reflections and conclusions of WP2 and WP3, WP4 will initiate innovative and co-creative dynamics for developing teaching/training approaches in tourism and hospitality. The project will develop more flexible educational programs in Tourism and Hospitality. Such studies offer in-depth knowledge about the industry. This will help the industry get more qualified and skilled workers. The results from the project will also be utilised in existing educational programs in tourism and hospitality among the four project partners. This will make the partners more able to develop more robust and sustainable educational programs in future.
