Project period

Project summary
This is a study over two years of the reading and writing of pupils in foreign or second languages. The study has started with two classes in Bergen, with English as the target language. It will gradually include pupils with Norwegian as a second language, and pupils studying English in Spain, Slovenia and Lithuania. By analysing the developement in texts that pupils written and read, and by linking these to levels on the Common European Framework, the project aims to produce tools for teachers to describe the literacy of their learners. The project has been included in the ECML's/Council of Europe's third medium term programme of activities.
