Risk in Offshore Operations (RISKOP)
Project owner
Western Norway University of Applied Sciences
Project period
May 2013 - April 2017
Project summary
The project aims at identifying and analyzing the risk factors inherent in three types of offshore operations: IMR (inspection, Maintenance and Repair), anchor handling and lifting operations between platform and supply vessels.
- To understand how the risk factors are identified and mitigated by all actors involved. This implies gathering data to answer identical or similar questions concerning all three operations. It also means studying different aspects of safety/safety culture, including, but not limited to, training practices/introduction of novices, interaction and communication in teams, team and organizational learning, the use of risk management technology and standard operating procedures, the impact and handling of external and internal regulations and guidelines.
- To explore how relations between onshore personnel and offshore personnel affect the risk of the operations.
- To facilitate the exchange of knowledge and understanding of risk factors between the parties
