Project summary
This is a qualitative study on eHealth and pregnancy complaints. The study builds on findings from my PhD-research (Fredriksen 2012), aiming to refine and validate the grounded theory of contested eligibility which was developed during this research. More specific, we plan to obtain further selective data to explore the following research questions:
-
How do women with pelvic girdle pain (PGP) experience support and knowledge from peers online, and how do they use this to make good health choices for themselves?
-
How do doctors, midwives and physiotherapists judge and respond to pregnant women`s e-health literacy and how do they support women in making their own health choices?
We employ a constructivist grounded theory approach, comparing data from two sources: (a) e-mail interviews with 30 women, recruited from Norwegian Internet-fora 2013/14, and (b) qualitative interviews with 12 health care providers.
