Project summary

High technology imaging has a significant impact on our lives, especially in medicine where modern imaging technology dominates now. For example, the development within high technology medical imaging modalities such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) have resulted in a larger percentage of people being exposed to these imaging modalities. These high-tech medical devices help radiologists obtain a precise and often early diagnosis of disease. However, the people undergoing high tech imaging modalities such as CT and MRI may dislike certain aspects of the procedures that are necessary to produce a high quality image. It is therefore important that Radiographers have the ability to understand the child’s experience of the situation in order to provide high quality care and develop a meaningful interaction during the examination. Information about patients’ experiences is therefore needed for best practice and in providing holistic care.
