Study plan - One-year programme in Business Economics

The programme has its main focus within the field of business economics, where four key courses have been selected to provide candidates with a practice-oriented study programme grounded in solid theoretical business economics. The programme provides relevant knowledge about how organisations in both the private and public sectors operate, and how they can make better decisions in both the short and long term.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the one-year programme in Business Economics, the candidate shall be able to:

Skills

Upon completion of the one-year programme in Business Economics, the candidate shall be able to:

  • Apply basic economic and administrative theories and methods to analyse and solve practical issues within business economics and accounting.
  • Carry out simple analyses of financial statements and economic reports, and use the results to provide recommendations for improving financial management.
  • Communicate economic information and analyses clearly and coherently, both orally and in writing.
  • Use digital tools and techniques relevant for economic analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Identify and assess risks and consequences associated with economic decisions in businesses.
  • Integrate ethical considerations and sustainability perspectives into the assessment of economic and administrative decisions.

Content

The one-year programme in Business Economics is a full-time study consisting of key subjects in accounting, management control, finance, organisation, leadership and marketing. Teaching is primarily carried out on campus in Haugesund, with some digital components or session-based elements.

1st semester

  • Investment and Finance

2nd semester

  • Marketing
  • Financial Accounting with Analysis
  • Management Accounting

Elective, where students may choose between:

  • Statistics for Economists
  • Macroeconomics
  • Corporate Strategy

Teaching

We offer lectures, discussions and seminars on campus in Haugesund. Students work on assignments both individually and in groups.
