Teaching methods

The course includes a number of strategies for language learning and working with a foreign language, including through the use of digital tools.

Working methods will be overview lectures in combination with discussion of the material, group work (both in pairs and larger groups), individual work, project work and presentations. The students will gain experience with working methods that can be used in primary school. It is expected that the students, on their own initiative, participate in discussions at colloquium meetings and on learning platforms as an extension of the learning situation, in addition to what takes place in class.

All teaching in the subject takes place in English, and the language practice aspect is central to the students' work. The learning in the English course requires interaction with other students and subject teachers about central challenges in the subject, development of oral and written skills, as well as the students' didactic competence. This part of a teacher's competence cannot be acquired only by reading, but must be worked up in real dialogue and by being present in the teaching. It is therefore expected that the students follow all teaching, participate actively and help take responsibility for the learning activities, so that they contribute to developing a good professional environment. What is conveyed in the teaching can be added to what is on the syllabus list, and will be considered the syllabus for the exam. Not all parts of the syllabus will be reviewed, so that the study requires a good deal of independent work.

Practice is an integral part of the study.
