Eco-Lighthouse
All five campuses of HVL are Eco-Lighthouse certified, which means we have a plan in place to meet over 70 different criteria for green transition and environmental management.
Eco-Lighthouse is Norway's most widely used certification for businesses seeking to document their environmental efforts and demonstrate social responsibility.
HVL achieved Eco-Lighthouse certification in 2021 and is committed to continuously improving our environmental and climate efforts across all five campuses.
This certification entails having a comprehensive plan to meet over 70 different criteria related to green transition and environmental management.
These are the main criteria we are measured against:
- Work environment
- Waste management
- Energy use
- Procurement
- Transport
- Laboratory operations
- Library operations
- Sports facilities
There is an increasing expectation in society that businesses are sustainable. This is also important for our students, young people considering applying for a study place at HVL, our employees, and our partners that HVL fulfills this commitment.
The Eco-Lighthouse certification is primarily a tool for HVL to assist us in transformation and environmental management. We will now work purposefully and diligently to achieve good results leading up to re-certification, which occurs every three years.
