FeminaGlobal

This project will facilitate the exchange of healthcare professionals, academic staff and midwifery- and nursing students between Norway and Brazil.

The FeminaGlobal project is an international educational collaboration between the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and UNIVALI (Brazil), funded by Norec (Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation).

The FeminaGlobal project has received just under NOK 8 million from Norec for a project period from 2025 to December 2026. There are also good opportunities to extend the project period beyond this timeframe.

Knowledge and challenges related to maternal and neonatal health

The overall goal of this project is to raise awareness and share knowledge on global challenges related to maternal and neonatal health. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills through internships in maternal and neonatal health services.

The project offers significant opportunities for mutual knowledge exchange, considering both healthcare systems' strengths and limitations and the distinct challenges and successes faced by Norway and Brazil.

Participants will acquire skills and knowledge applicable throughout their careers and will disseminate what they have learned to future colleagues. Thus, the project's impact extends to women, their families, healthcare workers, project participants, and their peers beyond the project's immediate scope.

Raise awareness, foster collaboration and empower women

  • The overall goal of this project is to raise awareness and share knowledge on global challenges related to maternal and neonatal health.
  • The project also aims to foster collaboration between working life, academics and research in Norway and Brazil to better prepare health professionals to address local and global societal challenges. The project also provides an opportunity to explore different global perspectives on caring for families in a lifecycle perspective.
  • Furthermore, we aim to empower women, especially those from minority and vulnerable groups in pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood to improve the health of the women and their infants.
