WHO Collaborating Centre for systematic reviews of qualitative evidence for decision making
From 2026, the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) has been designated a WHO Collaborating Centre for systematic reviews of qualitative evidence for decision making.
The Centre contributes methodological expertise and research support to strengthen the use of qualitative evidence in World Health Organization (WHO) guideline development and normative decision-making processes.
What we do
Our terms of reference are as follows:
- To provide methodological support to teams working with WHO HQ and selected regional offices in undertaking systematic reviews of qualitative evidence to support normative decision-making processes
- To strengthen WHO’s capacity to commission and assess systematic reviews of qualitative evidence to inform WHO normative decision-making processes
- To develop methods that help ensure that teams conducting systematic reviews of qualitative evidence do so in ways that support WHO normative decision-making
- To strengthen and widen the partnership between WHO and the networks linked to the Collaborating Centre, with a focus on low-and middle-income based networks
This work is done in close collaboration with our “twin” WHO CC at NTNU.
