Andrew Athan McAleavey, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and Senior Research Scientist at Helse Førde, Førde, Norway. Dr. McAleavey is a trained clinical psychologist, receiving a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University and completing pre- and post-doctoral training at Weill Cornell Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY. Prior to moving to HVL, he was a member of the faculty of Weill Cornell Medicine where he also holds a courtesy appointment.
Dr. McAleavey's work focuses on improving psychotherapy using measurement-based care in routine practice settings, and especially on how individualized, person-level data and clinical feedback systems can be used to strengthen treatment effectiveness. Across publications in psychotherapy research and allied clinical fields, he contributes to both methodological and applied questions about how clinicians can use standardized measures and feedback to support better decisions and outcomes for patients.
Dr. McAleavey has received multiple awards for his work, including career awards from the Society for Psychotherapy Research and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration.
