Irene Valaker

Field of work

Employed as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Department of Health and Care Sciences, Campus Førde. Course coordinator in public health in a national and global perspective.

The doctoral work dealt with continuity of care across care levels in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The work was part of a multicenter cohort study, CONCARDPCI, which has laid the foundation for the development of a digital cardiac rehabilitation program, eCardiacRehab. The research work is based on a research superstructure called PROCARD at Haukeland University Hospital:  https://www.hvl.no/forsking/gruppe/procard/

Previously trained as a business economist and has clinical specialist competence in cardiology nursing as well as a master's degree in organization and management.

Teaches 

Teaches topics in education and academic crafts, philosophy of science and methodology, acute chronic and critical illness, cardiology, public health, motivational interviewing, health literacy and supervisor at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level.

Researching

Research work in cardiology, interaction and continuity, pedagogy and mental health:

  • Work package leader in eCardiacRehab with a focus on continuity and interaction.
  •  Project manager in N-PRAKM with a focus on the development of new practice models in nursing education.
  •  Co-supervisor in a research project based on Norse Feedback, which offers technology, analysis and support tools in mental health.
  • Member of a research group originating from EANS - European Academy of Nursing Science.
