System access for external users
Occasionally, individuals who are not employees or students at HVL need access to HVL's IT systems, for instance, when we collaborate with colleagues from other institutions, both nationally and internationally. A common example is when external collogues participate in teaching and therefore require access to HVL's learning management system, Canvas. This page provides information about the process for external users to obtain access.
IT security is a high priority at HVL. All universities in Norway are required to implement a new national system for identity and access management (IAM) by 2027. HVL implemented this system in 2025. One consequence of this is stricter routines for granting access to HVL's IT systems. Therefore, all individuals who require a user account must first be identified and registered in HVL's personnel database before they can be granted access to other IT systems.
Request for system access for external users must be submitted by a manager at HVL. If you are an external user needing access to HVL's IT systems, please contact your contact person at HVL for assistance. Please allow a few working days for the request to be processed.
