Study start in Sogndal
Here you will find information about your start of studies.
Semester opening 2025 in Sogndal:
August 11th 2025
Note that the start-up event on August 11th is primarily for new students in the bachelor's programmes.
09.00: Meeting your study programme in a classroom. The fadders arrive at 10.
10.30–11.15: Welcome ceremony outside of Bragebygget.
11.15: Free lunch.
11.30–14.00: Guided tour and mingling.
14.00: Tour of Sogndal with the fadder group.
During the afternoon and evening, there are fadder activities.
Tuesday, August 12th
10.15–14.00: Educational programme with your study programme.
14.15–14.45: «God start» lecture by Sammen. The lecture on Tuesday is for students in geology, landscape planning, business and administration, law, tourism management and real estate management.
Wednesday, August 13th
10.15–14.00: Educational programme with your study programme.
14.15–14.45: «God start» lecture by Sammen. The lecture on Wednesday is for primary and lower secondary school teacher students, kindergarten teavher students, sports students, social work students and social educator students.
14.30: Grilling in the park in the city centre.
Thursday, August 14th
Meeting point for your class or year.
Friday, August 15th
10.00–15.00: Sports day in Kaupanger
Designated HVL buses will bring students from the central bus station in Sogndal to Kaupanger and back.
There are fadder activities in the weekend as well.
Fadder programme and buddy programme
There will also be other social activities throughout the week.
The Fadder programme is for full degree students in Sogndal, whereas exchange students have their own buddy programme.
