Novel non-invasive medical flow measurement systems

Project owner

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences

Project period

May 2022 - June 2023

Project summary

This project aims to build a pilot prototype for a novel medical flow measurement system which will for the first time expose the flow field in medical situations in unprecedentedly high resolutions. A non-invasive tool will be developed to show the transient flow instabilities in the bodies and medical devices which may have huge impact on our health. This novel measurement system will allow us to address the needs for:

a) non-invasive measurement for diseases related to flow in the bodies,

b) non-invasive flow measurement techniques for medical devices, and

c) measurement to verify numerical simulation of flow in bodies and medical devices.

The project is coordinated by HVL in collaboration with Haukeland University Hospital, UiB, UiS, Creator Makerspace AS, and Norwegian Smart Care Cluster.

This project is supported by UH-nett Vest (Universitets – og høgskolenettverket på Vestlandet).
