Project summary

The main purpose of the UD Access Collab project is to collaboratively develop resources to build capacity at our university to use universal design in assessments. The project uses universal design as a pedagogical framework. The goals of the proposed project are to:

  1. Prepare an annotated bibliography of key resources about the use of universal design in assessment
  2. Develop a guide for the use of universal design in assessment
  3. Co-create an introductory course on the use of universal design in assessment

The project implementation will include three main activities called - Universal Design Assessment Collaboratories (UD Assess Collabs). MFA Assess Collabs are collaborative activities of the project team and invited guests to co-create the project knowledge products using the agile methodology adopted from the software design and adapted to meet the goals of this project. The agile methodology is a flexible, collaborative, co-creation process to design, deliver and test products. Each UD Access Collab will produce one main knowledge product including an annotated bibliography, a guide for teachers and an introductory course. All knowledge products that result from UD Assess Collabs will be developed using universal design. They will be available in Norwegian and English, organized, curated, and disseminated in digital open access spaces.

The project will be implemented by an interprofessional team from the library, the universal design team, and the section for Global Health and Rehabilitation that will be used as a testing environment for knowledge products.  Team members have diverse experiences, complementary expertise, interest in universal design and commitment to making higher education inclusive.
