Project owner

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Department of Arts Education

Project period

December 2010 - December 2012

Project summary

The project builds on the Project Arts Didactics (Høgskolen i Bergen) and the Project Theatrical Action Research in Organizational Development (University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück). General aims: Development of competences in drama and theatre. Investigation of thematic contents of the play fragments, which describes existential tensions between collective interests and individual demands and opportunism. Spesific aim: Application of aesthetic-political formation in education of teacher students and students involved in vocational training (Lehrlinge-education).

Due to lack of funding, the project could not be completed as a joint Norwegian-German research project. However, the project leader (Eriksson) developed the project into a contribution to the book project: Teater som danning (Theatre as Bildung), now with Brecht's text fragment Fatzer as background for a study of 5 professional actors' view of "Bildung" as an element in their rehearsing of this play text for performance.
