5th Evidence-Based Research Conference

Bergen, Norway 19.-21. November 2025

Registration will open soon

Welcome to the 5th EBR Conference 2025

On behalf of the organizing partners we are delighted to invite researchers and leaders from academia, industry, NGOs, and other sectors to join the 5th EBR Conference to share insights, foster collaboration, and explore strategies for enhancing research environments that supports valuable research. Valuable research is research that is rigorously designed to ensure validity, addresses both scientific and societal relevance, and provides a high return on investment relative to its costs, including resources and participant risks.

The main theme of this year's conference is to create research environments that empower valuable research across all scientific disciplines and geographical regions.

This year, we are fortunate to collaborate closely with four Norwegian universities, all part of the VINST alliance, as we explore the role of research-producing institutions in advancing an evidence-based approach when planning and performing research. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the conference's scope, the scientific committee has outlined the following subthemes;

  • Valuable research: Supporting research that is rigorously designed to ensure validity, addresses scientific and societal necessity and relevance, and provides a high return on investment relative to its costs, including resources and participant risks.
  • Valorisation of research: Enhancing the societal and economic value of research, ensuring knowledge transfer, and maximizing research impact.
  • Ethical accountability and good research practices: Balancing the responsibilities of individual researchers and institutions to foster transparency, integrity, and public trust.
  • Diverse and inclusive evidence-based research culture: Fostering a research environment that promotes the work of multidisciplinary teams and strengthens local capacity, expertise, and involvement in the evidence ecosystem
  • Equity in Research: Promoting inclusivity by addressing disparities in health, gender, socioeconomic status, and underrepresented populations in research priorities and outcomes.

The VINST alliance, which includes Nord University, the University of South-Eastern Norway, University of Inland Norway, and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, is playing an active role in supporting this year’s theme in collaboration with the EBRNetwork.

We look forward to seeing you in Bergen this November.

On behalf of the Scientific Committee
Hans Lund

Conference Sponsorship

Support the 5th Evidence-Based Research (EBR) Conference

Partner with us to advance Research Integrity and promote Valuable Research worldwide!

Building on the principles of research integrity, EBR ensures that new studies are rigorously justified, methodologically sound, and of societal relevance, contributing meaningfully to scientific progress.

Despite the expectation that science should be cumulative and evidence-based, many studies are still conducted without systematically reviewing prior research. This leads to redundancy, inefficiencies, and fragmented knowledge production. By integrating systematic reviews, EBR prevents resource waste and ensures that research addresses real knowledge gaps and societal needs.

The 5th EBR Conference is arranged by the non-profit organisation EBRNetwork (registration number 932 806 355, Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway, https://ebrnetwork.org/), in close collaboration with Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and partners in the VINST Alliance Nord University, the University of South-Eastern Norway, and University of Inland Norway.

Join us in Shaping the Future of Evidence-Based Research!

If your company or organization funds, conducts, or utilises the results of new scientific studies, directly benefiting from well-conducted and impactful research, please get in touch to discuss how you could partner with us to sponsor the 5th EBR Conference.

We welcome donations of any size to help support our work!

The Evidence-Based Research Network (EBRNetwork) was launched in 2014 and is now registered as a nonprofit organisation (registration number 932 806 355, Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway). Its mission is to promote the transparent and systematic use of evidence to inform decisions about research. We aim to achieve this by making evidence-based research (EBR) a fundamental part of the research culture in all scientific disciplines worldwide; identifying and advocating for changes in the organisational structures and processes of the research environment to facilitate EBR; identifying and conducting research projects to inform the methodology and implementation of EBR; and developing and disseminating scientific products about EBR. We are funded by the annual fees of our members, our annual EBR Conference, and EBR Training Schools. All our activities are run and overseen by volunteers, without whose efforts we wouldn’t be able to conduct the meta-research, develop our publications and materials, and hold our training events and conferences.

Your donation will enable us to maintain our website and membership portal, hold in-person meetings for our Steering Committee and working groups, organise short-term scientific missions at partner research institutions to work on EBR projects etc.

We welcome donations of any size to support our work. If you would like to donate to the EBRNetwork, please contact us today by emailing 5thEBRConference2025@hvl.no
