Matthias Kaiser

Matthias Kaiser is Professor Emeritus at the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and Humanities (SVT) at the University of Bergen, and Professor II (10%) at NTNU in Trondheim. He studied mathematics and philosophy (of science) at the universities of Munich, Oslo, Stanford, and Frankfurt.

His areas of expertise include philosophy of science (Dr. phil.), ethics of science, food ethics, technology assessment, and science-for-policy. His research interests encompass, but are not limited to, aquaculture, seafood and food ethics, value studies, the precautionary principle, uncertainty and complexity, practical ethics, scientific integrity, and public participation. 

Matthias Kaiser is a member of the EU Horizon CSA project “CHANGER” (Challenges and Innovative Changes in Research Ethics Reviews). He has played a key role in leading the Research Integrity in Norway (RINO) project, which investigates the prevalence of, and attitudes toward, research misconduct and questionable research practices among Norwegian researchers. His work offers valuable insights into the ethical dimensions of scientific research and contributes to the development of policies that promote research integrity.
