The annual unit in Operations & Supply Chain Management emphasizes the development of necessary skills such as analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, communication, and collaboration. These competencies are crucial for effective operations and supply chain management in a complex and constantly changing business world. The program provides a comprehensive, relevant, and up-to-date education that prepares students for the challenges and opportunities in modern logistics and supply chain management
Admission
Admission to the program requires higher education with a minimum of 120 ECTS credits in technological, economic, or IT-related fields, including basic knowledge of business administration, statistics, and organizational studies.
Students lacking social science research methods must take ØMO111 Social Science Methodology in the autumn semester.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
After completing and passing the program, students will:
- Have a deep understanding of the planning, design, execution, and control of operations and supply chains for the efficient production of goods and services.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of strategies and practices in procurement, distribution, knowledge management, and the implementation of new technologies.
- Have a holistic understanding of economic sustainability, global operational management, and ethical and social responsibility in a global context.
Skills:
Students will be able to:
- Identify and solve complex operational and logistical problems and streamline supply chain processes.
- Apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios and utilize modern technologies to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Manage project leadership and make sustainable and strategic decisions.
- Develop complementary skills in collaboration, communication, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. This includes the ability to:
- Work effectively in teams.
- Communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- Utilize insights from multiple disciplines to develop holistic solutions.
General Competence:
- Develop a holistic understanding of the importance of operations and supply chain management for organizational success and profitability.
- Be aware of ethical considerations and social responsibility.
- Have the ability to lead and manage innovation and change in supply chains.
Content
The program comprises 60 ECTS credits distributed over two semesters.
Students select five of the following six courses:
- ØAL117: Operations & Supply Chain Management
- ØAL118: Operational Strategy and Execution
- ØAL119: Supply Chain Management – Procurement and Distribution
- ØAL120: Knowledge Management in Supply Chain Management
- ØAL121: New Technologies in Operations and Supply Chain Management
- ØAL122: Eco Global Operational Management (taught in English)
Practice
As an alternative to the bachelor thesis (ØMF190 or ØMF199), students may complete a 240-hour internship during the spring semester. This provides an opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with practical work experience.
Teaching
The teaching combines lectures, assignments/case solutions, and group work. Guest lectures from experienced professionals and company visits provide students with direct insight into how theory is applied in practice.
Attendance at assignment seminars and company visits is mandatory.
Assessment
The assessment methods vary between courses and include written exams, oral presentations, project assignments, and practical case solutions. See the course descriptions for details.
Internationalization
This is a one-year program, and therefore, there is no arrangement for student exchange during the course of the study.
Organization
The program spans two semesters, with 30 ECTS credits per semester.
In the spring semester, students complete a bachelor thesis/main project worth 15 ECTS credits. These are written in groups of 3–4 students. See course descriptions for bachelor thesis: ØMF190 and main project: ØMF199. Alternatively, students may choose an internship in a company and submit a practical report.
