Contents and structure

In this course students will gain extensive academic competence through aesthetic production

and will practise studying and researching innovative and creative aesthetic processes associated with these activities.

The course also includes work on relevant and ongoing research projects with particular emphasis on analysis and interpretation and work on developing their own research outlines.

The course will focus on the following topics:

• Aesthetic production and reflection
• Reflection on research methodologies and field work associated with the kindergarten field, analysis and interpretation
• Fundamental didactic problems and understanding of the kindergarten field in terms of management and leadership of educational work
• Practical, creative and theoretical specialisation within a relevant interdisciplinary topic relating to one or more of the subject areas: drama, art and crafts, music and Norwegian in kindergartens

Learning Outcome

• has in-depth knowledge of a broad repertoire of working methods, learning resources and learning arenas for the kindergarten field
• has in-depth knowledge of children's culture and creative and aesthetic subjects as a method in other subjects and teaching situations
• has advanced knowledge of didactics and vocational didactics related to the aesthetic field and its practice in kindergartens
• has thorough knowledge of art as a form of cognition and the kindergarten teacher's role as a facilitator of children's encounters with artistic expressions and creative artistic production
• has in-depth knowledge of different aspects of scientific, artistic and aesthetic argumentation, reflection and theory development associated with the kindergarten field

 

• is able to facilitate aesthetic development and expression, experience and knowledge within the kindergarten field and in relation to other disciplines and contexts
• is able to analyse academic issues based on the practices, history, traditions, distinctive nature and place in society of the kindergarten field
• is able to use different strategies and methods in their own creative and artistic work
• is able to analyse and evaluate learning processes within aesthetic production and collaborate with others in such processes
• is able to use relevant working methods to collect data and interpret and analyse such material with a view to developing and understanding cultural formation and learning in creative, practical and aesthetic subjects
• is able to chart and evaluate research and development issues that have been raised and which should be raised within the relevant areas for the student's master's work

 

is able to analyse and critically relate to different sources of information and use these to structure and formulate academic reasoning

is able to analyse and evaluate discursive practices associated with the subject area in the kindergarten field

is able to analyse and formulate relevant academic, professional and research ethical issues

Teaching methods

The forms of teaching in this course are characterised by variation and include own aesthetic exploration and production, lectures, group discussions, seminars, group projects with supervision, different types of individual work with supervision, and use of online resources. The course is dominated by creative production and an analytical approach. Subject teachers and students will collaborate at weekly general sessions and via the Fronter learning platform. Course requirements will be included in the work on the subject.

Compulsory learning activities

• Minimum 80% attendance at teaching and general sessions
• Participation in online forums
• Satisfactory completion of course assignments within the specified deadlines (semester plan)
