Course description for academic year 2023/2024

Contents and structure

The bachelor thesis is an in-depth profession work on a topic within the field of economics and business administration. Here students will use knowledge from prior courses and acquire new knowledge to find answers to a professional problem relevant to private, non-profit or public organizations. The bachelor thesis usually includes an empirical study, but can also be a literature study.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

Students:

  • has in-depth knowledge of a chosen topic within the field of economics and business administration
  • has knowledge of the research process and methodological approaches related to their own bachelor thesis project.

Skills

Students:

  • can plan, carry out and document a professional study under supervision
  • can formulate a relevant problem within a chosen topic and discuss it in the light of empirical data and/or theory
  • can find, select and use relevant theory, research work and academic literature and appropriate methods for answering a problem
  • can take care of relevant research ethics considerations

General competence

Students:

  • Can use their knowledge and acquire new knowledge in solving a professional problem.
  • Can reflect on own professional practice, collaborate with others in a project and make use of guidance.
  • Can convey knowledge both in writing and orally in a professional, academic and ethically sound manner.

Entry requirements

Students must have passed at least 100 credits in economics and business administration before the start of the fifth semester to be allowed to write a bachelor's thesis. In addition, students must have passed at least one of the two exam parts in ØKB2124 Social science method (or equivalent).

Recommended previous knowledge

Passed all mandatory subjects on 1. and 2.year

Teaching methods

The students start working with the bachelor thesis in in the fall semester prior to delivering the thesis in the following spring.

Seminar(s) will be arranged.

The bachelor thesis is written in groups of 3-4 students. All gropus receive a supervisor. The students and the supervisor must enter into an agreement on the supervision.

Submission of project draft by October 31st

Submission of project plan by January 31st

Submission of poster by June 1st
