ELE121 Advanced Networking Technology

Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

The course focuses on the implementation of network technologies, including dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) architecture, virtualization, infrastructure, network security, security and automation.

Topics include switching and routing protocols, wireless technologies, software-defined networking (SDN), and network access control.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

  • The student has advanced knowledge about networks and is capable of understanding, design, develop, maintain, manage, and troubleshooting data networks.

Skills

  • The student can use routers, switches, and related technologies to develop networks according to demands.
  • The student master design, implement, and troubleshoot of networks.
  • The student can work with related projects independently or cooperate with others.

General competence:

  • The student can communicate network information regarding to theories, issues and solutions
  • The student has the capability and skills to develop, maintain, and manage different type of data networks.

Entry requirements

None

Recommended previous knowledge

Basic network knowledge, or ELE 118 Networking Technology, or equivalent courses.

Teaching methods

Lectures, laboratory.

Compulsory learning activities

10 laboratory assignments.

Assessment

4 hours written exam will be held on the digital exam system.

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
