Contents and structure

The aquaculture industry has grown significantly in recent decades and has become a crucial source of seafood production worldwide. Simultaneously, communication has played a pivotal role in conveying information about aquaculture to the public, stakeholders, and authorities. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of how communication impacts the aquaculture industry. It explores fundamental principles of communication and public relations (PR), ethics, and corporate social responsibility (CSR), crisis communication, and reputation building in the context of the aquaculture industry. Students will learn to apply these principles to address communication challenges and promote a positive perception of the industry.

Knowledge:

Students will

• Gain in-depth knowledge of the principles of communication and public relations (PR) and how they can be applied to the aquaculture industry.

• Understand ethical issues and social responsibility related to the aquaculture industry and critically analyze them.

• Learn about the principles of crisis communication and strategies for managing crises in the aquaculture industry.

• Gain insight into the reputation building process and image management in the context of the aquaculture industry.

• Apply the principles of communication and PR to develop effective communication plans and strategies for aquaculture businesses.

• Identify and address ethical dilemmas and challenges related to social responsibility in the aquaculture industry.
