Contents and structure

In today's rapidly evolving world, strategic thinking and innovation management are crucial not only for corporate success but also for addressing the complex challenges facing our society. This course equips students with a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of strategic innovation management. Students will explore diverse theories and gain insights into how these concepts work together to create value and drive change.

Students will acquire practical tools for strategic analysis and decision-making, focusing on questions such as how to build innovation capacity, how to design and execute strategies for value creation, and what resources and capabilities are required for sustainable competitive advantage.

Central to the course's teaching approach is interactive learning, with a strong emphasis on case studies and workshops. This hands-on, student-centered pedagogy allows for the direct application of theoretical concepts to real-world settings, encouraging students to identify and relate these concepts to practical examples from their everyday lives. The aim is to build analytical and decision-making skills while fostering the ability to connect strategic and innovative thinking in solving complex problems.

Teaching methods

The course uses a combination of traditional theory and research-based lectures and contemporary, interactive learning activities.

Compulsory learning activities

Students must attend and actively participate in three seminars where elements of the group-based portfolio are presented and discussed.

Assessment

A group-based portfolio assignment accounts for 40% of the final grade (A-F).

An individual 20-minute oral exam accounts for 60% of the final grade (A-F).
