FØS8114 Quality management and HSE in the aquaculture industry

Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

This course provides students with a basic introduction to issues within quality management, and HSE in different types of businesses generally and in aquaculture industry in particular. The course introduces consepts and theories focusing on challenges and dilemmas in the pratice field.

Learning Outcome

After completing the course, the student must have the following knowledge, abilities and general competence:

Knowledge:

On completion of the course, the student has knowledge of concepts and theory related to:

  • Quality, quality management and continuous improvement
  • Risk and risk management
  • HSE, relevant regulations and systematic HSE work

Skills:

Upon completion of the course, the student has abilities related to:

  • Reflect on own professional practice when planning and building up the quality and HSE system, and adjust this under guidance
  • Can find and assess relevant information and subject matter, and present this to shed light on issues within quality management and HSE
  • Can plan and carry out an improvement project related to own work area
  • Can use various tools and methods within improvement work and risk managemen

General competence:

Upon completion of the course, the student has the following general competence:

  • Can use professional knowledge to participate in building, developing and improving the quality system
  • Can ensure that statutory HSE and quality measures are followed up at own workplace
  • Can discover potential for improvement, take initiative and be a driver and contributor to the development of good practice within the quality system and HSE

Teaching methods

Gatherings with varied learning activities including: Lectures, discussions, group work, individual project work with guidance and presentations.

Compulsory learning activities

Two compulsory learning activities that must be approved before the exam can be taken

Individual project assignment 100%
