Teacher training in environmental children’s literature through dialogic teaching practices

A NOTED-funded 4-year project from 2022-2025

The project’s main goals are to enhance the quality of education and strengthen international collaboration within the field of environmental children’s literature and to increase student and staff mobility.

The project is a collaboration between Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), University of Padova (UNIPD), and Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). The students and staff involved in the project do all partake in 5-year MA programme in teacher education with an orientation in language and literature.

Aims, goals and work packages

To enhance the quality of education we will build on dialogic teaching, and develop and apply theoretical and didactic perspectives on children’s literature relevant to the SDG’s. Additionally, and in line with key works on dialogic teaching, with UNESCO’s “Education for Sustainable Development Goals Learning Objectives” (2017), and with contemporary national curriculums, the project aims to strengthen both students’ and staff’s critical thinking competency and collaboration competency through dialogue and cultural exchange.

The main goals of the project are:

  1. Enhanced quality and international collaboration within the field of literature
  2. Increased student mobility
  3. Increased staff mobility

The project consists of four work packages, WP1-4 includes both students and staff:

  • WP1: Networking and curriculum development (HVL)
  • WP2: Teaching and tools development and exploration (UiC)
  • WP3: Dissemination and publication (UNIPD)
  • WP4: Mobility administration (WP-leaders, HVL)
