Assistant Professor

Diana Paola Piedra Moreno

Field of work

I teach and do research in mathematics teacher education.

Courses taught

I teach mathematics subjects in early childhood teacher education, elementary teacher education, and teacher development.

Research areas

I research how student teachers and mathematics teacher educators make meaning of the requirement to integrate ICT and algorithmic thinking in mathematics teaching. They find themselves in a complex situation, where they have to teach academic content and respond to new demands from the curriculum – often within limited time frames. With my research, I contribute to providing a realistic picture of the complexity of mathematics teacher education related to the implementation of reforms.

Topics of interest:

  • Curriculum reforms
  • Mathematics teacher education
  • ICT integration and computational thinking integration
  • Recontextualizing of discourses (Bernstein- theory of the pedagogic device)
  • Critical Discourse Analysis
