Field of work
Kristin Harris is employed as an associate professor at the Department of Health and Care Sciences, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and is affiliated with the Master's Programme in Clinical Nursing with specialisation in Intensive Care Nursing. She holds a master's degree in critical care nursing from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia and a PhD in patient safety from the University of Bergen (UIB). She has clinical experience as an intensive care nurse from several hospitals in Brisbane, Australia and from the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Haukeland University Hospital (HUS). In addition, she has also worked as a research coordinator at the intensive care unit, Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, and later as a clinical educator nurse at the Ear, Nose and Throat department at HUS. Her main interest in research is patient involvement in safety, she has experience from both qualitative and quantitative methods.
She currently has a shared position between Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Haukeland University Hospital. Here she is affiliated with a research project where she is the leader of work package 1 in the PAtients Safety Checklist effect study. This study builds on her doctoral thesis, and is funded by the Research Council of Norway.
