Associate Professor

Øystein Røsseland Kvinge

Field of work

Currently, I teach and supervise students at the master programme Master in Creative Learning Processes, that HVL offer on our campus on Stord. I am also involved in the Master in Music Pedagogy that we offer on our campus on Kronstad, Bergen. These two programmes merge into the new Master in Arts Education, beginning in autumn 2022. At the master levels I teach various topics, spanning from Philosophy of science & Methods and literature studies,  to more practically oriented courses on music technology, podcasting and the likes. I also teach students who have entered the master part (year 4-5) of their general music teacher education.

I am member of the research groups Culture, Criticism, Community (CCC), and Artistic research in teacher education (KUL). Since 2020 I have been involved as a co-reseacher in the project FUTURED, that is aiming at proposing new directions for music teaching and music teacher education.

I am interested in music technology in performance settings, and I am doing a certification on the software Ableton Live at Berklee online. I organise a monthly jazz cafe where I also play the piano with the in-house orchestra. Bergen Vista Social Club is my regular "gig band". We are a 7-8 piece orcestra and do salsa and other latin styles.
