DEPICT-NOSO - Advancing Research and Education in Depiction in Signed Languages: A Nordic-African Collaboration

Project summary

The DEPICT-NOSO project aims to establish long-term, high-quality academic collaboration between Nordic and African higher education institutions. It promotes equitable exchange of research and pedagogical practices between Global South and Global North communities, focusing on signed language as a minority language and Deaf signers as a linguistic-cultural minority. Primary objective, the project seeks to enhance the dissemination and impact of the DEPICT project outcomes among Deaf organisations, interpreter associations, service providers, and governmental bodies. Second objective, through joint dissemination, student-centered teaching, and mutual knowledge exchange, DEPICT-NOSO will strengthen research environments and build a sustainable, internationally leading academic network dedicated to inclusion, signed language development, and Deaf community empowerment.
