Project summary
In the research project Design Study of Interdisciplinary Learning in Mathematical Modelling (norwegian: DTLM), the aim is to design and develop mathematical modelling within teacher education. By designing and implementing teaching units that emphasise interdisciplinary learning through modelling, data are collected and research is conducted in parallel on the qualities of the instructional design, as well as on how it can be refined and tested to further enhance its quality. Specifically, DTLM investigates: a) How interdisciplinary themes can be learned through mathematical modelling in teacher education. b) How the values of ethical awareness, human dignity, and democratic participation can be addressed in mathematics courses in teacher education, operationalised through the design and development of mathematical modelling.
